Trying something new.

I'm always on the lookout for new ingredients and cuisines to try in my own kitchen, and I thought that it might be fun to play with new foods with other people. We could pick a food, spice, or cuisine to try and then post our thoughts on it and any recipes that we particularly liked. It could be something as simple as looking at old basics like turnips or dried beans anew or trying something entirely different like buying some Thai sauce or product in your grocery store and seeing what you think of it. Obviously we wouldn't want it to be too expensive, just a slightly more organized way of going into the produce section and picking up a vegetable you've never cooked before. I always have fun doing that; within the past couple of months I've learned that I quite like cauliflower if it's roasted, for example. Variety is good. :)

Anybody interested? It could be a community or a casual thing.

In other news, my arm hurts because I got my flu shot today. Also because I was lugging around fifty-pound bags of black oil sunflower seed for our feeders. I might have bought another bird feeder, too. *looks shifty* But we needed one, 'cause the cardinals are all upset because they don't like sticky-out perches and want bar-perches instead but the bar-perch feeder died at the end of last winter, and the lady two owners ago put in these great hangers for feeders so it's not like there isn't a place for it, and when you have more than an acre of land what's wrong with having six five (because I haven't put the suet feeder out yet) feeders all around the yard, anyway? The birds are happy! *lifts her chin and dares you to argue*

fm in rl, dear reader (questions for you)
