This entry is really random and really long so I split it into chapters or whatever. The chapters get shorter as they go along... Have fun.
I woke up really early today. If you're thinking, "Oh 9:00 is early for Michelle," you're wrong. I woke up at 5:30 and got up and everything and came to school. I was feeling really sick because my body was pissed at me for being awake and my subconscious was pissed at me for having auditions. When I got here I had a lot of time to kill so I hung out downstairs and discovered that they had redone the basement so the tables are in one room and the couches are in another. I took a nap on a couch but people kept walking by and screaming. It was strange. Chicks feel the need to scream when they see someone they know for the first time in a long time. I felt a lot better after some sleep and then I went to class. It's strange, because they're doing a mini day today so we can all go to mass in the afternoon. Each class is only 25 minutes long and my earliest class, which usually starts at 10:30, started at 9:10.
As I was walking to class I was sort of hoping somebody would ask me for directions so I could show off my badass knowledge of the campus. Like, "Yes, I know where Daly Science is!" Or maybe somebody would ask me a question where part of my answer would be, "Yeah, I'm a sophomore. That's right, a sophomore." It was exciting to finish a year but it's more exciting to be here knowing that you're older than a quarter of the undergrad students. It's always hard to tell who are freshmen, though, unless they're carrying around a map. I was such a loser... haha.
So cell bio/genetics looks cool. My advisor is the professor so that is going to be nice. This is the stuff that I'm really interested in. Genetics has always been interesting to me, and my emphasis is in cell/molecular biology, so... Organic chemistry seems really fun. The professor is so cool and I think that if I work hard it'll be just fine. He said that they wanted lab to be fun (because lecture is hard enough) and that we just have to show up and it won't add to or subtract from our grades. Lab can only add or subtract a couple of points from our lecture score. That is so nice. We also get to pick the experiments that we find most interesting, and the only thing that will be the same are the techniques. Considering labs are what killed me last quarter, this seems perfect. OChem might end up being my favorite class. My english teacher didn't show up... maybe she didn't know that today we're on a shortened schedule.
Besides the remodeled basement, there are a few new things around, the biggest of which are the sodas. In the cafeteria they put a pepsi thing and I was like, "What?!" I'm a real coke person, so I was glad that SCU had coke all over the place. Now I guess pepsi won the contract and is taking over. They haven't taken over the vending machines near the science buildings yet, so there is still hope. Maybe they'll leave one coke machine just for me. It's not that I refuse to drink pepsi, just that I really like coke better.
You know what's funny? When there's someone walking with their iPod playing and they're singing along. Like they can't help themselves. It's more funny when they're totally off-key and everything. You wonder if they know that they really can't sing. You wonder if they think they're really good. You wonder if they even know they're singing. You know what makes it even more funny? When they're walking into the music building. Hopefully to sign up for voice lessons, and not musical theater or anything.
I've got auditions at 1:45, and surprisingly I'm not nervous. Yet. I'm really calm right now. It's just about time for lunch. The fact that I can eat (even though I was throwing up this morning) says something.
