Retrievers/labs/sheppards always get this nod but with huskies it is sometimes overlooked. if they know where the food is kept and can see you open the cupboard/fridge/etc, they can get in too! their gears are always moving!
huskies have been bred to use their own judgment... They have been known to smell their way home in the middle of blizzards when home is several hundred miles away... They have to learn that what they think is best may not be... they have to trust you and your judgment, and they have to KNOW that they MUST submit to your will. They will test you for dominance for their entire life!
If you do sled with your dog, YOU must be aware of your dog's stamina/health. They will literally work themselves to death before they surrender/let you down.
Make sure friends and family interact with the dog under YOUR rules... Just one single person/incident where the training/rules are violated can destroy long hard work (begging, getting on furniture, chewing or biting, etc).
Can't think of anything else to add, good article, D.
