It's been a month since the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. People are still in evacuation centres and thousands are still missing.
I remember the day when it all happened. I was glued to my computer screen, following multiple news streams and the post on arama. I remember distinctly that day that 1,000 were estimated to have died. That number, though, kept rising everyday, to 5,000 to 12,000 to 18,000 to 20,000 and now, 28,000.
I still follow the news and I've heard quite a few remarkable stories. Survivors inside a wrecked car or inside a fallen house. Or the dog that was found on top of debris in the ocean. I've seen a lot of videos and pictures on tumblr, and the effect of the tsunami is outstanding. Nothing I could have ever imagined. I've seen videos of people running for their lives and buildings being washed away. Cars were stacked on top of each other and a yacht was even found on the rooftop of a five(or so) story building.
I'm proud of the Arashi fandom in contributing to the donation fund on arashi_on. Almost $30,000 were raised to the disaster. So many JE fans had participated, whether in fan works, tangible goods, subbing, or pure donations. This shows the amount of love the JE community on lj has for Japan, and I sincerely hope Japan will recover quickly.
