My brother (who is an elephant who likes to stand on his back legs) was for a long time an athiest (after growing up a christian, and becoming a Buddist). For my family, this was quite a stress- the thought of him going to hell was always there. My parents had pretty much got over this (I definatly had, before I moved away from Christianity. I should really tell my parents.)
But while we were in Stockholm, he told us he had had a slight revelation- a French scientist told him 'Science can explain how the universe works, but it can't explain why there is something rather then nothing.' He said that the bible was even worse then this (where did God come from?), so he ain't no Chirstian.
I believe it's nieve to believe that we are the only level of existence. I also think that something much more complex and interesting is going on instead of one guy on a cloud and heaven and hell.
