The Sickness
Ok so the wife is sick and slowly recovering finally she's not getting worse. I am grateful to see her on the mend. On Sunday we had a power blip and my comp on the UPS shut down and refuses to power up. Sure the LED on the MoBo has power so something is getting in. It's either the PSU is not providing enough to boot or the switch on my case is toast. So I am looking at replacing the case and the PSU. I really like the Case DF has and she seems to be rocking solid with it thus far so I think that's the route I go. If it works right then I will likely cannibalize the fans out of the old case and stuff them into the new one to get plenty of air flow. I might look at doubling up on RAM and upgrading to the fastest CPU my mobo will be able to take, then I should be good for 5-6 months then I can look to upgrade the Vid card and probably cap out there for a bit before I start from Scratch again. For now I am running on my lovely G5, which my only issue is it needs a faster video card to run WoW well. If anyone knows a reputable source for a Mac Nvidia 6800 Ultra DDL I would be all ears. I realize I am looking at a 2nd hand card at this point but not sure if I can find anything compatible of similar or better quality new at this stage. After that another 2-4GB of RAM taking it to 3.5 to 5.5 depending and she should be set for another few years to come. Any help with Vid upgrades would be greatly appreciated.
