I am NOT IMPRESSED.

Sep 13, 2008 17:15

Yes, I am drawn to my journal after weeks of nothing written and much happening.

And before the cheering, I must say that this important event is due to me being VERY NOT IMPRESSED.
HORRENDOUSLY so.

I am so not impressed that even were David Tennant himself to knock on my door, sweep me up in his manly yet rather thin arms, kiss me to death and then proclaim his undying love for me, I WOULD STILL NOT BE IMPRESSED.
Even if John Barrowman were to join him, I WOULD NOT BE IMPRESSED.
THAT is how unimpressed I am.

The reason?
Those idiotic useless PIRATES who call themselves DELL.

PIRATES!

How DARE they do this?
I have waited, maybe not patiently, but waited almost calmly. I have eagerly anticipated every change in status that Dell shows me. I have carefully chosen exactly what I want, and even bought one of their more expensive pretty covers which I can't really afford but liked too much not to. I have given them my trust, where I was more inclined to just visit PC World and pick up one in my own two mitts and take it home with me.
I TRUSTED THEM.
I placed my order AGES ago, on the 26th August, thinking they had PLENTY of time. After all, it wasn't as if I was adding much to make it custom made - just the cover, and a copy of Microsoft Word for Vista.
I was rather shocked and perturbed when they said it would be delivered on/before 17th September. As I leave on the 27/8th, I thought that this was cutting it a bit fine. But I trusted them, and thought 'Well, it's not a complicated order, it might be early'.
On the 10th, the status-changing thing told me that it was ahead of schedule by 4 days. I was ecstatic. Might it be early? That would be brilliant. No more worries!

NOW I find that not only is it not going to be early, NOT ONLY is it not going to be on time,
BUT IT'S GOING TO BE LATE!
And not just a little late, OH no. It is now 'due to be delivered' on or before the 30th SEPTEMBER.
As you may have noticed, this is several days after I have traveled to Lancaster and started university. Which now means that my mum will have to pick it up (probably collecting it from Leeds, which is an extra hour/more from here, because it's unlikely she'll be in when it's delivered), and then have to DRIVE ALL THE WAY TO ME AND BACK TO DELIVER IT.
Is it just me that thinks this is ridiculous?!
Not only is my very simple order LATE, but it's also an extra THIRTEEN DAYS late. That's nearly TWO WEEKS.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHH!

As if it wasn't stressful and full of stupid problems enough going to university!
As if I wasn't paying them enough money for this ruddy laptop!

Plus, you can only imagine what fun I'll have if there's something missing/wrong with it!

THREE DAYS at uni with no DVD playing capability, no way to charge or do anything to my iPod, no way to type anything without using a uni computer, no way to surf the internet...
I'll have to take all the music I want on my iPod with me in CD form instead of copying from this computer to the laptop the way I'd planned!
I'll have to get used to a whole new operating system and stuff with no-one around to help me, in the middle of a very busy Fresher's week!

I AM GOING MAD.

Steel backs me up - he is really NOT IMPRESSED WITH THIS SHIT.
And neither am I.

PS - full many-paged review of David Tennant's 'Hamlet' to come later. I'll write some more when I've cooled off a bit.

trouble, laptop
