The Logic of Batman

I found myself awake at 4am last night and what is on TV? The old Batman series. I haven't seen this in forever, however, wait, no, this is two hours long. This isn't the series, it's a movie! The original batman movie!

I'd forgotten how ... unique the original batman was, and it seems they stepped it up for the movie.

Here's probably the most random bit where Batman and the commissioner are trying to figure out which of the evil doers it could possibly be. (Just preceding this Batman is found on a rope ladder hanging from a helicopter with an explosive shark chomping on his leg, in mid air) Bolding is mine.

Commissioner Gordon: It could be any one of them... But which one? Which ones?
Batman: Pretty *fishy* what happened to me on that ladder...
Commissioner Gordon: You mean where there's a fish there could be a penguin?
Robin: But wait! It happened at sea... Sea. C for Catwoman!
Batman: Yet, an exploding shark *was* pulling my leg...
Commissioner Gordon: The Joker!
Chief O'Hara: All adds up to a sinister riddle... Riddle-R. Riddler!
Commissioner Gordon: A thought strikes me... So dreadful I scarcely dare give it utterance...
Batman: The four of them... Their forces combined...
Robin: Holy nightmare!

I highly recommend looking over the quotes list but here is another where they apply their expert logic to some Riddle solving.

Batman: [reading a riddle] What has yellow skin and writes?
Robin: A ball-point banana!
Batman: [reads the second riddle] What people are always in a hurry?
Robin: Rushing people... Russians!
Batman: So this means...
Robin: Someone Russian is going to slip on a banana and break their neck!
Batman: Precisely, Robin!

ball-point banana! hahahahahahahaha

The last bit of wonderfulness in this movie is when the Penguin dehydrates five of his guinea pig henchmen ( all with shirts labeled gp1, gp2, etc ), that's right he dehydrates them, with the plan of being taken back to the Bat Cave where he will then rehydrate them. Only, due to an unforeseen accident where a switch gets flipped, he uses heavy water (as in radioactive) instead of regular. This causes the henchmen to become 'unstable' and disintegrate into anti-matter at the slightest impact; with no harm to anyone else of course. I love that apparently the Bat Cave has a water dispenser that nourishes or kills with the flip of a switch.

Random Bat-Facts
* Adam West is from Walla Walla Washington and went to school in Seattle, and is currently 80. Not bad for his current level of activity.
* Lee Meriwether (Catwoman) was Miss America in 1955, 11 years before the movie.
* Burt Ward (Robin) was an ice skater and perhaps the youngest ever at the time.
* Cesar Romero (The Joker) wouldn't shave his trademark mustache for the role, so they masked over it with The Joker's face paint.
