[For once Ikki has decided to try to hang around the village itself instead of going to the mountains or the forest. Even he can get bored of that, after all

[Many would probably complain about a minor drinking, but Luceti isn't a place to watch for those things and in his world he probably is old enough for it anyway if they can drive with fourteen. And Ikki isn't a person who would care about that anyway. He nods back at Smoker.]
The mildly way of putting it is to describe it as a "world changing event"? That sounds worrisome when considering what would be the more severe way to put it.
[He snorts almost amused. He has had his own share of situations that, put in a mildly way, would be described as "world changing". Even if many of them are unknown for the world itself.]
The word "strange" is overrated in this place where normal people without any kind of power are the strange ones to find. What's the name?
[Stares at, unsure whether to answer, but fuck it, it's not like he actually wants to HELP the pirates or make life easier on them.]
The execution of Portgas D. Ace.
The battle was almost completely televised with his crew fighting to take him back, including their allies; and more strangely still, a bunch of escaped prisoners from Impel Down which, until then was nigh impenetrable. Even for Luceti standards, it was strange.
I have seen Gods die with far less effect in the world at first sight.
[And at second sight. It's not as if Hades' death changed the way the world moved or anything. People still died, still got injured, still suffered. Just, instead of dying and be sent to an eternal hell they... Well, he doesn't know what happens now with those who die, but even if it's eternal aimless wandering it's better than any of the hell prisons they would have been sent otherwise. It's not as if he actually believes anyone ever got to be able to go to the Elysium after all.]
[Ikki just grunts at the first part. Not about that Ace but about his father, huh? Ikki has his share of the shadow of a father obscuring everything else. He won't abandon Athena and the others, but he will never stop thinking that none of them would have ever even moved a finger to get involved in all that if it hadn't been because of their father forcing that fate on them. Not that they would have even existed in the first place without that man's scheming but still...]
And the death of that man represented that? Curious that the people in your world would consider the death of a criminal a bad omen for their lives. Or did it actually have some kind of symbolical meaning? Like burning down a flag being a declaration of war or something like that.
Something Gold Roger, possibly Dragon and Straw-Hat all carry. It terrifies Sengoku, but since he has to deal with Garp on a frequent basis, that could be why.
Well, in general terms, willpower can be a worrisome thing when it's at the opponent's side. Though I suppose it doesn't have to really be something related to willpower.
So I take this Battle of Marineford had all of you Marines gathered on it?
[Nods head and is drinking a rum.]

Smoker, how have you been?

Good, you?

Can't complain, things have been quite calm for a while.
[At least on his part. The last thing he did that seemed even a bit out of the ordinary was finding a boy turned into an icicle.]
It seems we got new people around again though. Anyone you knew among them?

Anyone for you?

[He sounds almost amused by that.]
That Battle of Marineford sounds impressive just by its name.

It has another name, but that one just seems strange here.

Fear is a powerful thing when people worry about the destruction of life as they know it.

Portgas was considered something of the price of blood to pay for that.

[The price of blood? Like a sacrifice?]
