I'm going on a tore tomorrow.

Jan 19, 2006 22:27

At long last I have a few moments of my own--and internet access--to update people on the latest and most adventurous aspects of my life, most of which have happened today alone, and I am tired.

What is this thing I speak of? Moving to Albany, that's what! The new room is way smaller than the one I had in the apartment in Hawaii, but it's not bad at all and is pretty cozy. There's a clocktower on campus that rings ever 1/2 hour, which at first made me think I was going crazy, yadda yadda yadda, and now I think is fun. ^_^ Haven't met my roommate yet, so can't update on that. I'll probably get some unpacking down tomorrow so I can relax, plus I'm taking a tore at 5:00. Tore = Tour with a New York accent, which I find amusing. Eventually I'll have more linguistical differences noted, but that's the first one I picked up. Pretty fun. ^_^ Anyway, I'm going to mimick Michelle and do a +/- evaluation of today and my general feelings, k? K.

+Seeing Albany Campus for the first time.
+Driving to Albany with my mom.
+Being able to pack WAY more than 50 lbs of crap in a suitcase and not worry about being charged or not being allowed to take it.
+Not flying 12 hours with two layovers.
+Getting internet set up at school.
+Meeting RA and other staff, all of whom are very cool.
+Mandatory meeting in the lounge with all of Dutch Quad transfers/exchange students, playing Pulse, and winning at it.
+Having a semi-private bathroom including shower.
+Being able to have tons of heavy blankets and not sweltering.
-Crows are frickin' insane.
-Albany not sending me out the health forms
-Possibly getting a hold (for the health form thing) on registration for classes tomorrow.
-No roommates here yet.
+Seeing the "Welcome Maggie!" sign they put up (they know I'm coming! Hooray!)
+Getting to bring Thork who is too big to bring to Hawaii. (Green Dino, will possibly post picture later)
+Getting to have--count 'em--3 pillows! Hooray! Ich habben dri komfkissen! (sp. in German and English is awful, forgive me)
+Hanging out with my mom at the campus center.
+Being in the same timezone as my parents, and one timezone behind Andy.
-No more random late-night conversations over AIM with my insomniac East coast friends
+Being able to chat with my East Coast and Hawaii friends at the same time for once
+"We're giving a tore of the campus tomorrow."

I think that's about it for now. Will update more later.
