Well today the Juniors had to take the History MCAS Question Tester thing. Well, 12 questions and an essay may seem like a little bit of work, but it was fun. The multiple choice were easy. Simple if I do say so myself. Then comes the essay. Now, to anyone who thinks this essay might be tough, it isn't. Especially because the test doesn't count at all. I found it hilarious. On the left page was Federalist Paper No. 10. On the right was my essay. The question was as follows:
"(a.) Identify the problem with the type of government referred to in Federalist Paper No. 10.
(b.) Explain why this problem is a potential threat to a nation.
(c.) The author of Federalist Paper No. 10 says that a Republican government is a better alternative than the form referred to in the paper. Explain why it is, or is not, a better alternative."
Now, you might be thinking, "Why is this so funny?" Well the fact of the matter is, you aren't me. Here's my response.
"The problem with the type of government referred to in Federalist Paper No. 10 is that power can easily be misplaced with the chief executive. This leads to that official fearing to lose his power, and wanting to gain more power.
This problem is a potential threat because both fear and greed are paths to the Dark Side. No good Jedi wants to follow that path. The Dark Side leads to many powers that are considered unnatural. Once an official gains power, and fears to lose it, he begins walking the dark path, which can lead people to war, nations to ruin, or even entire planets to their demise.
Now, a Republican government is not any better than the type mentioned in the Federalist Paper. This is simply because it still relies on a single individual more than others. Whenever one person is relied on more than the rest, that individual has power, which leads to fear and greed. So a Republic, or Republican government, is not by any means better, because once the leader gains even more power, and falls to the Dark Side, said leader can lead the whole nation on the path to darkness. This leads old governments to be broken, and Empires to be formed, only leading to more power. Since a Republic can lead to an Empire, the leader of said Republic can end up ruling the Universe, and I'm sure no one wants that. That's why a Republican government is not any better than the type in Federalist Paper No. 10. Beware fear and greed."
Again, this MCAS doesn't count at all. I simply couldn't pass this opportunity up.
