Welcome to the First Night of Spring!
Tonight is the night when Things Change and the World Awakes once more! The Long Darkness is over and there will be many things to celebrate in the coming season!
Many will sit up with candles burning, anticipating the lengthening days and the warmth of life.
I'm staying up later than I ought, both because I'm in the process of backing up EVERYTHING on the MegaBeast *just in case Kama Sutra hits* and because I needed to mark this.
Tonight, despite the stress and the exhaustion and the overwork, I managed to sip a Burghead cup of mead and had a little shortbread, and thought about how God still blesses, even in the Darkness.
I also played a little...Queen of Spades appeals to me because of the strong blackberry/amber/pear/plum notes, so while I have no SN pear to play with, I did finally combine two imps of Glasgow, two imps of O, and two imps of Bordello. It smells AMAZING, even if it isn't Queen of Spades! It goes on heavily honeyed, but it slowly darkens and richens into a thick, heady fruity scent...but not how you think. Have you ever stood under a fruit tree when it flowers? And then gone back when the fruit is ripe and the sweetness is heavy and languid in the air? That's what this is like! I grew up with apple, pear, plum, and cherry trees around me, with rich arbours of purple grapes as well. (All colder weather fruit) Autumn to me is still signified by the scent of drunken apples in the air.
Spring and early Summer was always plums...and then pears...and then grapes. Each one in its full, natural state, each one blooming and ripening and then slowly withering within bough's reach of one another.
The scent I'm wearing is like the ripening state, dark and dusky, but without offence of any sort. I'm pretty amazed it smells like this!
For those who celebrate Candlemas/Oimelc, you might consider wearing Milk Moon.
Yummmmmmmm!
Love you,
Nechtan ;)
