Worked on the Perfume Kazoo!

The original desk/shelf lacked anything to keep the bottles sliding off either forward or back, so first I purchased pressed-wood moulding in a botanical pattern and painted it in bright watercolours:

Then I toned it down by polishing with dark shoe polish (a trick I learned in art class) which gave it a darkened, satin finish. Then I mounted these 'shelf lips' at the front of each of the shelves that required it:

I also attached pierced aluminum sheets on the back to give it both texture and to keep those bottles from sliding backwards:

...And now I'm so happy!

Those two ugly 'shelf lips' that are the plain wavy brown wood will eventually be fixed with cut-out wooden bas-relief of other botanicals that will be painted and treated the same way. I just have to remember which hardware store I saw them in!!! *laughs*

Nechtan :)

P.S. This isn't even HALF the oils/botanicals I own; but the ones with volatile oils or that deteriorate without refrigeration are in the basement fridge!
