EDIT: Oh, ignore this. LJ isn't going anywhere and while I'm not actively posting, neither have I gone elsewhere. Grey :} March 25, 2014...My last 'thing' and then I'll bow out
( Read more... )
I'm deleting the content. SOME items in my LJ I'm switching to "private" so I can keep track of them for my own future information (things that took me ages to find on the internet and are now marked with those posts, for example), and I'll still check in from time to time on friends to see how they're doing. But it won't be the daily thing I've done for the past decade, and I won't be posting anymore.
I don't want to pay the Russians a month's fees to be able to block delete/change posting status, so I have to do it piecemeal...and that's why it may take up to three weeks to winnow down all the posts!
I'll likely leave up these last two posts as "open", just so anyone who comes looking will know where I've gone.
I will miss seeing your posts, too, but as I said, I'll check in occasionally.
I realize I'm responding to this long after it was written, but I've only recently gotten back to reading LJ myself after a hiatus...mainly because I was dealing with my mom's illness and family fubar and my mom's passing and not dealing well at the time
( ... )
all I had to do was see tumblr and it made me crazy :D it seems to mostly be quoting and requoting and re re requoting various things...I like to yap about my own doofy things :D Forget facebook and all those other sites, I HATE all that tracking crap and targeting crap.
And I've had the exact same thought about specific history or specific whatever months (like heart care month or womens issues month or whatever...) It should be everybody all the time. I can understand say, during chinese new year someone in a history or geography class do something special regarding China as a point of relevance, but to peg out only a certain time period and then ignore the rest of the year round seems counter productive...and it also excludes a lot of smaller groups who don't have thier "special snowflake" month in the sun.
