There are times my head is so full to bursting with words, I wonder that it hasn't actually gone 'splody.
There are basic truths about the World we live in. It is a physical world, and we are spiritual beings clothed in flesh so that we might interact with the World. From the very beginning, we were intended to interact with the World, being In it but not Of it. The World was never here for us to exploit, but for us to work in tandem; alongside it. To love it, protect it, and preserve it.
We were not meant to live without it. We were not meant to ignore it. We were certainly not meant to destroy it.
Somewhere along the line, we've all bought into the idea we're "Here--Now" and that that's it. That we're just "people" walking over the face of a planet and we'll die and join into the entropy of the earth by being buried and dissolving into our component elements. Wormfood. Fertiliser.
I have a basic truth to impart: The "thing" that separates each of us from everything else is 'selfishness'. That is, when we put ourselves before others, before the World, before anything else...we have closed ourselves off. We have 'sinned' in the most ancient form of the word, because we have 'missed the target' of what we were aiming for in the first place.
There are seven Powers that work to keep you in a state of illusion. The first of these is Darkness, which blinds you to that which you truly are. Darkness keeps you compleatly Unknowing that you are greater than the combined petty miseries of modern life and that you can transcend and rise ABOVE them.
That is what Darkness does. It keeps you hopeless and miserable. It hides the Light of truth from you.
You are so much MORE than what you believe yourself to be. You are capable of WONDERFUL things! You are INHERENTLY beautiful and powerful and glorious just as you are NOW...so imagine how amazingly awesome you can be if you only begin to recognise what is already inside you!
There are so many ideas that can aid you--and too many that will hold you back. They were not kidding when ancient philosophers told you "Right thinking leads to right action" and that "Knowing yourself" was the greatest of freedoms.
You know, one of the FIRST things that "selfishness" will do is to attempt to dominate another. It comes down to trying to put rules and regulations and laws; to put FORCE on another person or thing to control them. Even in the sadly-maligned Bible, Cain kills Abel in an attempt to dominate God's attention by removing his perceived 'rival'--and Abel was not Cain's rival.
When you worry about what someone else thinks of you, you are giving them power over yourself. You should never do that. You should never compare yourself to others, because you are a unique and wonderful creation. NO ONE CAN BE LIKE YOU. When you believe in the false sense that someone else's opinion of you matters, or that you must conform to someone else's wishes, you are again closing your eyes and allowing the Darkness to rule your perception.
I despair when I see so many people rejecting Christ outright because they believe He must be like "those people" who bullied and betrayed them in Christian churches. They look at the history of the Roman Catholic Church and see that as endemic of what God is.
Let me point out: "those people" and the Catholic Church and so many other organisations that took on the NAME ONLY of Christ were using FORCE. They were applying their RULES to you. Christ never preached that. God never wanted that. Christ came to remove the Darkness and to give people a better understanding of Who They Are in God's Eyes. LOOK at what "selfishness" does and LOOK at the actions of others and then SEE THEM FOR WHAT THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY ARE DOING.
I've been reading through several versions of the Gospel of Mary, one of the apocryphal books sometimes known as the Berlin Codex. I don't see anything there that is in conflict with what Christ taught, but it DOES make a pointed illustration of the misogyny of Peter and what an angry, jealous person he was. Peter, of course, is the one who publishes his own letters saying that men should keep the women silent and has been the 'rule' for the suppression of women for centuries. This gospel also has Christ's words about NOT making arbitrary rules and regulations for others to follow. It's no wonder it was suppressed by the Church organisation that wanted to set itself up as a new Empire and used Peter as its 'rock'.
Whether you believe any of this about Christ is really immaterial. But you need to know you're MORE than what most people want you to KNOW you are. You're a strong, eternal spirit inside a body that was never meant to be permanent. Your value is INCREDIBLY HUGE. But you have to wake up to that knowledge and embrace it with every iota of yourself.
Please...wake up!
Nechtan :)
