Idiots
As much as I like my friends, I really really don't appreciate them dumping their idiotic crap in my lap and then expecting a reaction out of me that they know I can't and won't provide.
I have a friend that I've known for quite a number of years and he knows how I feel about certain things. And he also, unfortunately, thinks he knows me inside out. He doesn't know me that well apparently.
His mother procured a Chou Chou a year ago with the soul intention that it be a guard dog because one, their lab/retriever was old and two, she didn't "feel safe" living alone anymore. Okay, acceptable. She doesn't really love the dog, unfortunate, but she has spent time, money, and attention on training him and feeds him on a regular basis and doesn't abuse him. Okay, NOT my cup of tea but much better than some people manage.
Now however, he hurt his leg day before yesterday and was limping all yesterday. She wanted to ignore it and have it go away. My friend managed to convince her to schedule a vet appointment. They were going to take the dog in today but apparently, as nervous as he is around EVERYONE he freaked out, nipped them, and so he didn't go to the vet.
Not to mention they regularly contemplate muzzling him JUST TO TAKE HIM TO THE VET! And this - is the part I CANNOT wrap my head around - their vet won't take him unless he's muzzled because he apparently makes them nervous. I've met aggressive dogs; he is not one. He doesn't like most people because he's nervous around them and wary, and he's additionally been fucking trained to act that way.
So what does the mother do? She immediately decides that she has to put the dog down because they can't even move him; he's too "aggressive". Just because she can't get him in a car to a vet to treat his leg she's having him put down.
WHAT THE BLOODY FUCK?!?!?
You DO NOT give up on an animal like that. You DO NOT throw away an animal because he's not behaving as you think he should. You DO NOT treat them like they're not a living, breathing being. You DO NOT have the right to act like a complete idiot.
Except, apparently, you do.

Her son managed to convince her to give him a week and make an appointment with a behavioral specialist. Lord I hope that behavioral specialist is worth their salt and that his mother get over her fit of idiocy really fucking fast. I cannot deal with this shit - it really does make me incoherent with rage. Yay for the catharsis of writing it all out.
