"Watanuki," Yuuko called from somewhere in the depths of the shop. "There are some customers at the gate."
Watanuki left the icecream maker busily freezing and churning custard, took off his apron and headed out the front. The customers were... odd. They both had very, very long hair, the woman's wine-red and the man's palest silver. The woman was dragging the man by the wrist. The man had a decidedly put-upon expression with which Watanuki could instantly sympathise.
"Welcome," he said, bowing deeply.
"Ah!" said the woman, dropping the man's wrist. "SO CUTE!"
Before Watanuki could even blink, she appeared to have attached herself to his back. "You're so delicious I just want to eat you up!"
Only the fact that Yuuko had called her a customer kept Watanuki from throwing her to the ground and exploding in rage. "Ma'am," he said, in what he hoped was a polite tone of voice. "I'm afraid I--" He stopped.
That bastard Doumeki was standing at the gate, with an expression that appeared far too amused to ensure his continued existence.
The silver-haired man had a long-suffering expression, but looked away when Watanuki tried to catch his eye. "Ma'am, please let me go, I have work to do..."
"We want to see the witch of dimensions," said the woman, not removing her arms from his shoulders.
"Well, I can hardly take you to her with you hanging off my back, can I!" he snapped.
"The witch of dimensions is here," said Yuuko, coolly. "Ruby Moon. You can't have him."
The woman - Ruby Moon, what kind of name was that? Was it English? - dropped to the ground. "Yuuko!" she trilled, clasping her hands together. "It's been a long time."
"It has," she said, agreeably. "Please refrain from molesting my assistant, however."
"Nobody ever wants to share," she said, pouting.
"I'm afraid I need him intact," said Yuuko.
Watanuki was starting to feel rather disturbed by this entire conversation, but none of his frantic blustering appeared to get him any attention.
"Now, what brings you here, Ruby Moon?" Yuuko glanced over at the silver-haired man. "And Yue." Yuuko did not exactly look surprised, but Watanuki had the impression that she had not entirely believed it until she had seen him. She indicated that the two should follow her, and the three disappeared into the shop.
Doumeki walked over to stand next to Watanuki. "Ever the ladies man, I see," he said.
"I made ice cream," said Watanuki. "You can have some if you never mention this again."
