Title: A Man and His Bird
Summary: The union of Mr. Cotton and his beloved bird.
Author: flameandignite
Word Count: 175
Rating: PG (for mentions of you know, *motions to tongue*)
Characters: Cotton and the parrot
Disclaimer: I don't own them. I'd like to be paid for it though, haha.
Author's Note: I was tagged and was so extremely sick that I'm a little getting to my challenge. I was hit with either Anamaria and her ship or Cotton and his bird and while Anamaria and her ship obviously appealed to me more (being a huge Anamaria lover) I decided to try something different (and would dedicate the ana/boat story to a much longer one-shot)and chose Cotton and his beloved parrot.
What I will do, however, is tag veronica_rich with Anamaria and her floppy hat.

The last sound he had released was a scream; it would be the last sound he would release until the day he died. A part of him would have liked to be dead. Marooned and no longer with a tongue, Cotton stuck his feet in the sand and stared at the vast ocean awaiting him. He eyed the gun longingly and cocked it, just about ready to pull the trigger. Steel pressed against his temple and his eyes shut tight, he knew he’d been ready.

Paradise, indeed.

“Don’t be a fool.”

Cotton looked to his right and frowned at the parrot that limped towards him. Its wing was broken and looked just as battered as he. Cotton opened his mouth to tell the bird to go away but remembering that he’d lost tongue for squealing in the first place, he flared his nostrils at the bird.

“Don’t be a fool,” the parrot repeated and Cotton’s attention on his gun shifted to the bird, amused at how well it spoke.

As if almost speaking his mind.
