Ice cream and nectarines

It's come to my attention that I have apparently lost the ability to rant. I've been poking at some of my attempted essays lately, because it's been a while and because I'd love to do something for the Symposium, but I just can't seem to get a good "I'm right, you're wrong" vibe going. I have rant fragments on several subjects, such as men (and ( Read more... )

Hey, if you're whoring out -- I mean, setting up Ivan with people, put me down on his dance card, 'kay? I would love to see him find a nice girl (or boy, I'm so not picky) to settle down with ( ... )

I adore Ivan. I've been fond of him from the beginning, but after A civil campaign, I was completely gone. I'd love to see more of Ivan very, very reluctantly using his intelligence, while keeping up a running inner monologue on how it really ought to be someone else's job.

I don't know if he'd make a good pillow, but I'm pretty sure my parents would be amused by him.

Tom Welling is older than I am by six months. Michael Rosenbaum is older by five years.

Just saying. They're pretty good, but sometimes not entirely convincing as youngsters.

Yeah, the visual image of Clark isn't exactly that of a defenseless young thing. Then again, there were no visuals at all for the young!OW of TPM chanslash, so theoretically people should have been able to construct him in what was to them a non-squicky way, if appearance makes such a difference.

Then again, again, since some people were/are capable of seeing the EM representation of fully grown OW as small and frail, maybe not.

It's interesting that you should mention HP, actually, because there was an enormous brouhaha two weeks or so back over chan-slash. *g* I suppose while people had gotten acclimatized to fourteen year old NC-17, a wee nine year old Ginny or twelve year old Harry was pushing it.

Five years from now:

"Embryo slash is wrong!"
"No, it isn't!"

I remembered after I posted that I'd seen a vague resurgence of ick after the HP movie, as people got visuals of the kids and apparently assumed that all slash was about them at that age.

He should do that kind of thing more often. Preferrably someplace I can go listen to it.
