Have you all noticed that sign-ups for
yuletide are now
open? Until Monday evening in some time zone other than mine, so there's no rush, which is good, because there's a zillion fandoms listed. I'm sitting here making lists and I'm still only on the Fs.
The lists are yes, maybe, and pinch-hit, respectively, and the plan is to make the maybe list resolve into something less maybe-ish before I actually sign up. I mean, there's stuff I know and love and feel I can write (that would be the yes list) and then there's stuff I know and love and am not sure I can write, stuff I know and love but am not sure I should write, stuff I know and can probably write but might not love enough to make a good enough job of, stuff I love but don't know well enough and am a little nervous of, stuff... well. It's a loooooong list of fandoms, did I mention?
I'm fascinated by the ask me what happens after the end of any of my stories meme (which, hey, originated with
hesychasm *g*). Most of my stories don't have an after the end in my head. They just end, and after that I suppose there's... life, and stuff. A few of them do have an after the end - usually the ones where I planned to write sequels and never did, koff. anyway, please feel free to ask if you take an interest, as long as it's okay that the answer might be "um." ;)
Have been trying to come up with a better expression than not-shipping for the way I feel about certain... non-couples (yeah, and a better word than that, too) in my fandoms. I mean, friendship, sure, but what I'm thinking about is a particular kind of non-romantic m/f friendship. Mulder and Scully were my perfect example way back when, before CC was bit by the romance bug. Mustang and Hawkeye in FMA pinged me the same way; I not-ship them like crazy. Also, hm. *thinks* I had hopes for McKay and Weir after the pilot, and again with The Storm/The Eye, but... no, alas. There's just not enough there there, although a good writer could absolutely make it work for me. Ditto Teyla and Sheppard. I want them to have a bonding episode. with lots of fighting and rescuing of each other and stuff.
Of course, I like stories with lots of fighting and rescuing of each other, regardless. *g*
