Ewan's penis (and other things)

Things that have entertained me lately, for various reasons, in no particular order: Two Lumps; bridge crossings; the sad decline of epic-writing since the mid-90s; Ewan McGregor; a truly driven artist. Also Le Morte d'Arthur, which I am currently rereading. I'd forgotten just how plain wacky it is, and now, of course, I'm seeing them all as anime ( Read more... )

Before I answer - and before I forget - I have to quickly say to Torch that "actor ≠ character" is very much my opinion as well. I even researched a bit in that field but did not find satisfying theoretical tools. To me, this is a different discussion though.

I think I am the unwanted opposition in this thread *g* and what I heard about fanfic criticism (on this matter as well) makes me shudder and want to run away. Not really my interest to squibble. And while I once might have said eye-colours should be easiest to settle, I only recently realised:
a) since there are no un-photoshopped photos around anymore, we cannot rely on pictorial evidence
b) since there are cool and uncool eye-colours, people (even when meeting someone in RL) can still disagree about what to call the colour they both see at the same time!

I heartily agree with you on the being aware of things.

I still don't understand why people have to bodily change their characters and then claim it is as valid as what is on screen. It's usually an indication of Mary Sue and Gary Stu when Draco has red hair and Rodney a slim waist. I still don't understand where these non-actor-like characters come from if there is no source but the actor though.

I had forgotten that there were at least two Daniels - that's a valid case then, should there really be people who consider one film more weighty than 8 years of TV *shrug*

and then there are people like me, who just never *notice* eye color :-)

but changing Draco's hair to red (though i will always support everyone's right to write these stories and retain my right to not read them :-) is not quite the stuff of the OP, is it?

or maybe we're just agreeing? :-)

*snort* lucky you.

The stuff of the what? I was just trying for a non-incidentary example here, you know :S

*g* noooo idea. I have not heard the term body-bleeding before today, I think, and it would be a rare thing if someone agreed with me (completely).
