Dear Justin. I love you. Now shave.

I have a list of necessary household chores as long as my notebook, but I'm just going to say that I'm still weak from my cold and have to rest, because I also have The Grand Tour, which obviously needs to be read as soon as possible.

CNN offers a new and improved map of Europe! New, anyway.

A day late on the rec a movie thing, but when has that ever stopped me: you should all see Mauritz Stiller's 1919 Herr Arnes penningar, one of my two favorite movies ever, based on one of my favorite novellas (by Selma Lagerlöf, who is one of my favorite... oh, you get the general idea). What, you haven't always wanted to see a Swedish silent movie? It's about crime and guilt and attraction and love and justice, and if I knew Benton Fraser I'd invite him over to watch it. (My other favorite movie ever is Some Like It Hot, which I figure doesn't really need to be recommended.)

I thought about doing a post about noncon to go with most of HP fandom's posts about noncon, cause it's fun to ramble and hey, noncon isn't really my cup of tea and I can talk about why not. Except that that's obviously not true. Dubious or badly negotiated consent, iffy situations, be they fairly mild or more harsh - I'm all for that. (In fiction.) Drink, drugs, impaired judgement, bring it on! (In fiction.) But I like to write it much more than I like to read about it, to be honest. This whole hitting-of-buttons is a subtle thing, and it takes so little for a promising scenario to go wrong. Sometimes just a single word can change how I feel about a story. It's a fine line between kink and squick, you know?

(Unexpected personal fanfic squick of the day: massage as seduction tool. Unless, of course, both parties know the name of the game from the start. Or unless it's an interesting exploration of fucked-up trust issues. Or...)

I know people use copywrite a lot, but today was the first time I saw copywritten. Then I googled for it and realized I have just been leading an extremely sheltered life. And of course copywritten is a perfectly logical extrapolation from copywrite... (But I did find something to giggle at.) (Oh, look, copywrighten, that's a new one.)

Do the dishes or read? Read or do the dishes? I think I still have some ice cream left...
