I'm trying to cure my cold through liberal applications of garlic and Due South episodes. If I'm still sneezing at the end of CotW I guess I'll try Once a Thief or something. (I also feel an intense need to correct CKR's posture. My back hurts just looking at him.) Anyway, I'd really appreciate recs for nice long plotty smutty DS F/K stories not ( Read more... )

due south, recs

Hmm... have you gone through the ds_flashback community? A year of recs, mostly older stories. Excellent source.

And Thursday would be great, if that's alright with you. :)

ds_flashback! Perfect. :) Thanks!

Also, sadly, I think we might have to postpone this social thing again. :( My cold is better but I'm still pretty much wiped and not really in shape to have anyone over. Right now all I seem to be able to do is drink tea and cough, but I'm hoping that this, too, shall pass. How about next week?

I have a whole essay (unwritten but fleshed out in my head) about things that I get fannish about, things I like to dabble in fandom for, and things I keep as far away from the fandom as is possible. The last isn't usually because the fandom is scary or anything, but because I'm really happy with it as it is. Fannish about Buffy, somewhat fannish about Xena, and kept far far away from Gilmore Girls fandom.

Yeah, sometimes you just don't need a fandom. I'd like to see your essay, though, if you ever get around to it!

resonant8 has written some truly fantastic F/K. As with reading Ces, you can pick anything from her oeuvre and it's all good. "Sixteenth of June" is one of my favorites.

thisisbone and Aristide together wrote "Better Angels," which is long and plotty and gorgeous.

I hear you about enjoying the fandom but not being fannish about it. I feel that way about things sometimes...just not this one, which grabbed me in its teeth and wouldn't let go. *g*

Ha, I went and reread all your stuff! Thanks for keeping me happy through the coughs and sniffles. :) Res is up next. And I'm not actually sure I've ever read Better Angels, strange as it seems, so... it's turning out to be quite a nice week in some ways.

*grin* Yeah, that is a good place. Currently browsing happily, with four windows open to different stories. :)

Part of my recent indoctrination included a long expose of why RPS is so enthralling, and a bewailing of the lack of an engrossing uber-fandom like TPM (to capture everyone's attention.)

The tour guide was deficient: no Evanston for wings, no cinema, no Hancock, no zoo, no Aquarium

No zoo! That's a shame. And I grovel for not having provided a suggested itinerary. I think it was probably post-vacation blues, or pre-cold amnesia, or something...

((hugs)) You feeling better? Where was the vacation? Any inclination to rainy museum bookshopping trips? Given half the itinerary was missed I've just decided to go back and bother her again :) Money, work, piffle!
