What I thought to be most interesting about "Doomed" was the fact that both Willow and Xander wanted (or did) save Spike in some shape or form. Willow with wanting to take his mind off of, well, offing himself, and Xander saving a near unconscious Spike in the high school.

I also thought that though Spike vehemently disliked Harmony, that she was still in fact his official girlfriend, and he was monogamous in the relationship. Furthermore, for whatever reason, he wasn't afraid to confide in her it seems...just interesting as a layer to their dynamic, and I think they'd make better friends than lovers.

And (more) Spillow love! Yay!!

Yeah, I love the dynamic beween Willow, Xander and Spike in Doomed, Spike doing Xander's housekeeping promotes slashy vibes as it is and Willow being worried about him offing himself even hightens the little signs of Spillow.

I kind of have an urge now to write Spillow fic where Spike and Willow weird the scoobies out with having a literature geek face off.

I think he perceives Harmony as someone he can come home to (with limitations), but it comes at a high price of being massively annoyed.
Spike is pretty open, so I wasn't too surprised that he'd confide in her, he just likes to share his plans and really doesn't deal well with being alone.

I think Spike/Harmony worked in it's own way (of portraying a pretty one sided relationship) as long as they both were comic relief, when Spike left that terretory in S5 he left Harm behind.

Oh no--I couldn't see them more than anything as an uber odd couple :P I think if Xander could have successfully got over his prejudices, and if Spike could have toned down the snarking, they could have been friends--like a less lame version of Spike and Andrew as friends (and I could totally see Andrew and Xander as a couple...ahem).

Spillow works for me hardcore in s4. It's the only time I could see them being feasible and working well, particularly after Oz's departure, and Spike knowing what it's like to be left behind.

I agree that Spike and Harm worked in their own way--how they protected each other in their odd way, how Spike would entertain her and her silly games ("Is it bigger than a bread box?"), though I know that some construe it as Spike just being lonely. I disagree.

Hehe, I'm fond of Spike and Andrew. I think he see's a bit of William in Andrew, hopeless geek that has a hard time finding his way in the real world and hence retreats into fantasy.

But I wish Xander and Spike had gotten more screentime, they were great fun sometimes and could have made good frieds.

Never really considered Andrew and Xander, but it could be fun.

Yup, I think if Xander had turned gay and Willow had been the one to get a demonic significant other, Spike would have been a pretty fun choice.

Oh! *claps hands*

Ahem.

But yes, that'd be an AU I'd loved to have seen, or to read :D

Harmony wants a traditional girly role with her man looking after all her worries. She wants to be passive except in her demands for material goods, and she wants Spike to be the provider. He, meanwhile, gave up all that Victorian bollocks when the Victorian age ended, and is perfectly happy to "do the girly things" too - his masculinity lies in fighting and sex, in both of which he's pretty confident.

He has his fallbacks, I think, sometimes he wants to be the provider and the traditional male (especially after he got hurt), so he hooked up with Harmony, only it doesn't work. The roles annoys him after five minutes.
