if anyone's interested here are more cards (I started the list this morning over here)
I'm trying to keep this a readable size, so I don't describe the cards in detail, just an outline of the basic meaning as I see it.
9-the hermit: It's about introspection, wisdom, solitude and isolation
Again Buffy is mostly about the group so it's hard to find someone for the card. Giles would be ok. He would qualify as wise and he is in many ways isolated in the group because of his age and experiences.
10-the wheel of fortune: It's about fate, luck, change and destiny. There is a turning wheel on it with animals tied to it.
Since this card is about change and destiny I think it would be fitting to put those characters on the wheel who change the most during the show. Who are tossed around by destiny a bit. For me that would be Spike, Faith and Angel, but almost all of the scoobies would work out.
11-Justice: It's about analytical thinking and having a clear head. Making the right decisions, thinking logical.
Again it doesn't fully credit the complexity of the character but to me Willow would be good on this card. She is the brain of the group, at least in the early seasons. she has an inquisitive mind and a strong sense for justice.
12-The hanged man: I always associated that card with being stuck. Lack of inspiration. That a maybe painful change is needed to get out of a bad situation.
The fun about this card is, that it applies to a lot of characters on Buffy at one point or the other.
Buffy at the beginning of S3 or in S6. Giles or Xander in S4, Spike in S6, Angel in S5 of Angel, Willow after Tara's death, Faith, Anya in S7, Dawn in S5. The card goes with everybody once in a while and fortunately with no one constantly.
13-Death: There is the obvious meaning and then it can mean a kind of metaphorical death. Like the end of a phase in life. Aside from a skeleton on horseback, there are several dead and dying humans in the picture: children, a king and a priest to show that death makes no difference and brings them all down. In the background the sun is coming up behind two towers (in the Rider Waite the towers look just like the card "The tower"), to symbolize a new beginning.
In the preview the Buffy Death is just a skeleton standing over a dead slayer. I would rather put a pile of characters on it that died on the show (Buffy, Tara, Joyce...) and maybe the cave slayer in the death role. The towers would have to look like the one Glory used in the end of S5.
14-Temperance: This is for finding balance. The angel on the card is standing in the water with one foot and on solid ground with the other. It's something about balancing emotions with logical thinking, soul with mind.
In The Buffy set they put Angel on the card. Maybe just because it's the obvious choice with there being an angel on the original card. They changed the background pretty much to look like good and evil, so that Angel is struggling to find balance between the soul and the demon. I didn't like it at first, since I don't think Angel is a good symbol for inner peace and harmony. I'm coming to terms with it though. He is a good symbol for the constant struggle.
If I had to pick someone else on the card it would be Xander, since he is maintaining the balance within the group.
15-the devil: Is for strong emotion, ruthlessness, lust, sexuality, freedom. Usually there is some kind of devil on it that has two chains, one holding a woman , one holding a man. Both depicted as demons and with fire an grapes as symbols for sex and passion.
In the preview the couple is Buffy and Spike. For S6 I think this is very very fitting (for shipping wars it isn't). They had a very destructive affair after all. Not really caring about themselves or others, driven by obsession and a lot of problems. It was also Buffy breaking free from conventions and stereotypes in many ways.
What I dislike is that on the promocard Spike is rather holding the chain, pulling buffy towards him. That doesn't fit with the meaning of the card and not with the way it was on the show, where they were both caught up in it.
16-the tower: Is for destruction, chaos, downfall (it's the one card even the most white light esoterics seem to have trouble to find anything positive about )
That's virtually handed by the show. It's Glory's tower! Complete with dimension gate opening. Dawn tied up on top. Spike falling down, Buffy jumping.
17-the star: It's all that's good virtually. Inspiration, new power, love, joy...
Again there's the woman with one foot in the water and one on the land.
Tara would fit best I think.
18-The moon: This is my 'what does it mean again?'-card. It's for confusion, lack of clarity, deception... There are animals on it, looking at the moon and the two towers are again present.
Again, this would be a cool card for Drusilla with some other demons on it.
19-The sun: It's optimism, energy, innocence, being radiant
Hm, hard one. Pure and shiny doesn't really go with the complexity of the show.
Also the sun means death for the vamps, so one would have to add a new meaning. There are certainly aspects of Buffy that would go with card. Maybe Dawn for innocence and optimism. Or maybe Cordelia, she would be radiant and she shines light in dark corners.
20-Judgment: It's for Judgment, restart, redemption... I don't really like the picture, which is some kind of angel, raising corpses from their coffins on judgment day...
That's the ultimate card for the redemtionist characters. Spike, Faith and Angel. Don't know who could take the part of the angel though, maybe Buffy, since she inspired redemption in them (except Faith).
21-the world: It's something like wholeness, prospering, accomplishment bla bla bla
Again a hard one, because nothing is ever good and perfect in the Buffyverse. I would maybe put Dawn or Willow on it but without a very good feeling.
It's interesting that I could not put my favorite cards on my favorite characters, probably because the troubled are always the more interesting.
