VIVE LE LITHIUM PICNIC!

I've had a few people ask me what the LP vs SG thing is all about.
So I figured I'd avoid doing homework and make a little post about it.
If anyone disagrees with my info or has more to add - feel free to comment!

I love how many people seem to feel that the battle between these two companies concerns them at all. Plus i'm surprized that in the end people are surprized that SuicideGirls is really just a capitalist corporation looking for revenue and getting it off exploiting a specific culture. Feel so unique and deviant, and moving against conformity these people suicideGirls caters to have in fact conformed to each other and thusly created a market to be tapped. HotTopic has been doing it for years. And anyone paying any remote attention to HotTopic will notice what they carry changes as the market does. That's why 7 years ago it was all spikey collars and baggy elephant pants, and today it's tight jeans and CareBear backpacks. It's an industry. While I cannot claim to agree with SG, fact is they are pursuing lost revenue based upon an image of said woman/model. And in this type of industry (one made pedaling intellectual properties) image is everything. All they really sell is image. It's the same jeans, photos, backpacks, etc as everyone ( ... )

I don't think that support Phillip should only be models or people willing to be models.
I think that's truley and completley re-fucking-diculious.

And I think you totally missed the point. For starters, the thing about modeling and what not was a statement about people practicing what they preech. It's so easy for these teens and little 20 somethings to promote and preech him, when if we turn the spotlight around and say "would you do it" they in fact won't. My larger point was 1) the commercialization of this sub-culture and how it's absurd anyone is shocked by it, and 2) the fact that in the end it's really nobody's business but Lithium, SuicideGirls, and the female model/his wife. Don't get me wrong, I don't necessarily agree with SG, plus i've been watching Lithium on Deviantart LONG before the rest of you found him cool as the new flavor of the month...but at the same time as a working artist I can see the point of SG, and how in the end it is 1) a business and 2) (back to the main point) none of anyone's business to make it a bigger drama than it really should be.

Yes when it's him that is making and indulging in the drama?
When he is the one asking for support?
I don't see how it can be wrong or taken as "none of our business" when he and his wife makes it our business.

No, people shouldn't be shocked about it.
But that doesn't mean they shouldn't know about it, or learn more about it, or care about it. As far as a SG's "business stand point".... they sure seem to not have a very good one. A very curroupt, confusing one. involving yourself in multiple, ridiculous, lawsuits doesn't seem to be the best for your company, or your models. Archiving and censoring your models doesn't either.

i never understood why philip was slumming with suicide girls in the first place -- he's much too good.
