I learned several things this weekend.
1) I like Amtrack. The seats are big and comfy, and there's a relaxed mood on board.
2) If you find one hotel is significantly cheaper than all the others in the area, there's a real good reason. Go ahead and spring for a more expensive one.
3) Beware that one trolly/train line that boldly ventures further out than all the others -- especially if that line is coded "Blue" on the maps. Be more afraid if this is the closest line to your hotel.
4) There are a lot of people in San Diego who are legitimately mentally disturbed. I think I encountered a large percentage of them. While walking. After dark. In the hood.
5) The tourist face of Mexico is quite nice. Rosarito was OK, but Ensenada was lovely.
6) Next time I travel to Mexico -- I'm cutting San Diego out of the equation.
