There was a cancellation for the tamale making class on Sunday, so I'm in!

A tamalada is a traditional tamale making party thrown by Mexicans all over the Americas. If you’ve never done this before, then you’ll want to join our beginner’s party to “get your feet wet”. Thanks to the expertise of Sue Young of The Tasting Spoon and Cecilia, our local event organizer, we will learn how to make these mysterious parcels of delight. You’ll learn a little history, the secrets of good masa, learn about different hojas (wrappers), several different traditional, and non-traditional fillings, and a few methods for wrapping and tying them so they don’t fall apart in the steamer. Of course, we’ll be eating tamales that day, but you’ll also have some of your own fresh made tamales to take home and freeze or devour immediately.
