a tribute, to my beloved harry potter.
i know i'm a little late..
but i finally closed the last book about 10 seconds ago..
it was amazing.
and now, i would like to dedicate this entry to Harry Potter and the huge role he played in my childhood..
i was but a mere 8 year old when i opened a christmas present from my Aunt who lives in Wisconsion.
much to my dissapointment, i saw it was a book. and books are the furthest thing from an 8 year old's mind.
on the paperback cover it read, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's (sp?) Stone"
to me, it looked pretty silly and boring.
so i let the book sit. and sit. and sit.
Finally, (about a year later or so) a lovely woman named Mrs.Willis came to read to our 3rd grade class on every other Friday. She began with "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets." Immediatly i was bored to death (though she read with great expression) the first time she came... After a few more times, i was hooked.
so around roughly the same time, i searched high and low for where i had thrown the first book. Soon enough, i found it.
and from that day foreward, as soon as i could get my hands on a Harry Potter book, i read it every spare moment i had.
Harry Potter has accompayed (sp?) me at recess, lunch,after-school care, during class, Camp Marydale (girlscout camp, 4th grade), long car rides for family visits, air plane's, Florida, Wisconsion,St.Lukes, (undercover at) Parkview, and Saint Michael's.
I, like many others my age give or take a few years, feel like i've grown up with Harry Potter.
I remember playing "witchs and wizards" out on the playground, and dreaming of flying on broomsticks while casting spells.
I remember trying to organize a game with my elementary school frinds similar to Qudditch., (but failing miserably because it just didn't make sense on the ground).
and i can not forget, the time i dressed myself up in a red-headed wig,black robe,and a witch hat with a wand to imitate the looks of Ginny Weasley.
I remember reading, and reading, and reading...and all the games that middleschool kids would play with eachother like "I KNOW HOW THE 5TH BOOK ENDS!!" "NO! DON'T RUIN IT FOR ME, PLEASE!" (sticks fingers in ears, and proceeds to make the "la la la" noise..)
I was there, (along with many others) when Harry got his letter to Hogwarts, when he looked in the mirror for the first time, when Ginny was possesed by Tom Riddle, when Harry caught his first snitch, when Fred and George openend their joke shop, when Harry and Ginny started dating, when they broke up, When the attraction between Ron and Hermonie was unberable, When Harry battled Voldemort in the maze, When Harry turned into a fish to save Hermonie, When polyjuice potion was tasted for the first time, When tears were shed by Severus Snape, and he admitted to always caring for Harry, When Hermonie polyjuiced' herself into a cat, When Harry saved Draco's life,..twice. When the three of them broke into the ministry..on numerous occasions, When Neville Longbottom showed true bravery through out his last year of Hogwarts,When Umbridge coined the phrase "i must not tell lies",When they destroyed the car by crashing it into the Womping Willow, When Sirus,Albus,Snape,Fred,Tonks,Lupin and Dobby all faced their deaths due to He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's plans..
and then when Harry beat death.
