If there is ever a name given to this generation I belong to it will be the regressed generation. I sit in my classes and watch most every one stumble over the simplest of questions and have trouble creating complete sentences.
So many people seem to put their petty traumas such as chipped nails or a lost foot ball game before their thoughts and true care. Every one of them is capable of learning and knowing far more than they do. They are not stunted so that they are limited to the amount of information in their minds.
In english we are reading The hot zone. I was sitting in math and suddenly two girls behind me are laughing uncontrollably. When I asked why they looked at me a bit confused as if it was obvious and I was slow. One of them held up their copy of the book and said "you read this chapter right?" I said I had and she continued to stare. "well do you remember it?" she asked. Of course I did, I had read it only the night before. "Isn't it funny!?" she questioned, I thought back to the chapter, a nun had died leaving the hospital room covered in blood. I some times find such things amusing, but not to the point that I'm laughing uncontrollably. I asked her why she found it so much funnier than I did and she said "ugh, not that, that's gross! I mean the words!" She showed me the lines she was reading. I read them and gave a blank stare, she had to be kidding. In the sentences there were words such as fuck and shit, she found it very amusing. Words I hear her use every other sentence, and she finds it almost unspeakably hilarious that they are in this book. I turned away and she gave her snobbish comment and went back to laughing at the book.
I see now why all the books we read before this were no higher than 5th grade reading level. How sad. It's the girls like her that give cheer leaders bad names, all though I have yet to meet one that wasn't snobby and like a five year old in maturity. Ah well, I'm told that there are a few who are not that way. They are incredibly fun to upset though, ha. They have little break downs and cry at any thing. How wonderful it must be to have such a limited mind, like barbie on steroids I suppose. Too bad, because ignorance isn't bliss, it's horror beyond belief, they will see when they are made to face the world. Along with this every one is so close minded. limiting themselves to their tight knit, restricting religions or opinions. They can have their beliefs and opinions but they would be so much better for listening to and learning of other ones too. How will they ever come out of the deafening rom if they don't?
blah.
ha I put shocked as my current mood.... is this really a shock? no. But it seems like it is every time it comes to be noticeable to the point it disturbs me.
