Really?

Verites can remember many of her “firsts.” Her first tooth lost, her first kiss stolen. Her first slumber party, her first friends, her first vision, he first moment of true, bone crushing, mind numbing fear. All these firsts she remembers, and she would never give them away, for all the world. But, there are two memories she would give away in less than a heartbeat.

She would be more than happy to forget the first time she had held Nephthysia's body, trembling and naked, in her arms. She would love to forget the way the vicious, confident girl became such a child that night. Satieed and yet, paranoid. Yes, she would give away her body and mind to forget those moments.

More than that, though, she would love to forget the first time she held Silver. The last time she had held her darling, before the madness came, and took her away. Made her more than ruthless: cruel and brutal. She would give her heart and soul to forget the way that warm body had been languid, so assured in her own power. And, to forget the way those words sounded so convincing.

“Tomorrow, I'm going to fix you”
