When the fiance is male, he is the fiance
When the fiancee is female, she's the fiancee.
When the blond is blond, he's a blond.
When the blonde is blonde, she's a blonde.
There are even people who would argue that
When the brunet is brunet, he is a brunet,
And when the brunette is brunette, she is a brunette.
Jacob did not smile often enough. His siblings all knew it, even before the cloud of depression settled over his shoulders. Before their parents had been killed and he had become the head of the house, the one provider, his sisters and brother had always teased him for being so dour looking. Every smile was a gift to them.
"Jaaaacob! Look, look! Look what I can do!" Kira's such a cute kid. Too smart for her own good, though. What's she taken apart now? I hope I'm not going to have to buy another VCR for mom and dad. They'll kill me.
"See! I can stand upside down! How cool is that! Help me walk like this, Jacob! Grab my feet!"

"Abs, you can't marry Nef. She's your sister."
"Nu-uh! Don't listen to him Abby. He's lyin'! We're gonna get married and live in a big old house with those windows you can sit in!"
Little kids are odd. Especially these two. Whose ever heard of a brother and sister as close as they are? I mean, I know they're twins and all, but don't they ever fight?
"You can be the preacher!"

"Why doesn't daddy have a smiley picture like everyone else, Momma?" Nikki asked, her voice filled with the earnesty of a five year old.
"Because, sweetpea, you daddy didn't like to smile."
"But you always make me smile for the pictures!"
"That's because I'm older than you."
"Is daddy the oldest?"
"No. I was older by a year."
"I want him to smile, Momma! Make him smile for his next picture!"
When the next picture came, labeled confidential, for legal counsel's eyes only, Hannah had barely avoided being sick, seeing his face so cold and pale, he lips peeled back in an eternal grin.

Jacob and Kira Revlis were killed by Diablo in the first Eternity Facility. Though Jacob was never married, he did have a sweetheart named Hannah. They had planned to wed after they got their degrees, and to start a law firm together. When Jacob was taken by Eternity, Hannah had just found out she was pregnant. Jacob died without ever knowing he had another family.
Possibly the only belssing he ever had in his life was not knowing that he had left behind a daughter, as well as his brother and sisters.
