Danny couldn't wait to get home. After a super busy day and a crowded train on the ride home, all he wanted to do was get in their apartment and hide away for the evening and night.
Walking inside their apartment, Danny put away his gun and badge before walking over to the kitchen, dropping his keys and phone on the bar, the smell of dinner filling the apartment.
"Mmmmm....somebody's been cookin'" he said with a smile, walking around the bar and wrapping his arms around Don from behind and nuzzling his back. "How long ya been home?"
"'Bout two hours. Got lucky and got off early today. How 'bout you. How was work." Contrary to popular belief, Danny and Don didn't always work together. Placing the appetizer on the counter between them, Don gave Danny a big kiss before moving over to pour him a glass of wine.
"Got stuck in the lab all day runnin' trace. Didn't even get out fer lunch." he sighed, releasing his hold on Don and taking a look at the appetizers before picking one up and taking a bite. "This is good, babe."
"Made specially for the man 'a the house." Don said with a wink as he took a bite of his own, nodding his approval at his own handiwork. "So any leads?" He asked, pulling the main dish from the oven to let it set and cool.
Danny snickered as he took another bite, knowing technically Don was the man of the house but Danny had him wrapped around his little finger. "Just enough to tell me the suspect list in gonna be huge unless we find somethin' else. I left before I got all'a the results back." It was no rush since they were still looking for other evidence and leads.
"The usual. Ran down a lead for Mac, came up short. Got buried under paperwork and then had to book a few drunks towards the end 'a the shift." He said with a shrug, Don cutting them both big pieces of the baked rigatonni, sliding it all onto the plate, the smell of Italian sausage prevalent amongst the cheese and sauce.
Danny made a face when Don mentioned paperwork because there was a nice big stack sitting on his desk that he hadn't gotten around to yet. "Least we don't gotta think 'bout work anymore tonight." he said with a smile before picking up his glass of wine and taking a drink. "Dinner smells great. Thanks for cookin'." he said, leaning up and kissing Don's lips.
"I missed you, too." he said hugging him tight, Danny always preferring when they worked together since they knew each other so well it always went smoothly. "Now, let's eat. I'm starvin'." he chuckled, taking a seat at the bar.
Smiling at the kiss, Danny scooted his stool closer to Don and raised his glass, clinking it against Don's and taking a sip. "I love you too, Donnie." he whispered.
Beaming, Don leaned over for another kiss before starting in on his food.
"Oh, by the way. Adam asked me what to get ya for Christmas. He's out 'a ideas after spendin' the whole day shoppin' with his ma. She came down without his ol' man this time. He's happier than I've seen 'im in months." Don commented after swallowing, beginning their usual dinner conversation.
Danny thought about that for a moment always finding it awkward to tell people what he wanted or needed. "Did ya give him any suggestions?" he asked, taking a bite of his dinner and groaning. "Mmmm...Donnie this is good."
"I told 'im to get ya a candy thong, and some whipped cream." Don said like it was the most normal thing in the world; after more than a few poker games with Mac, not to mention working with the guy every single day, Dom had built up quite the poker face.
"Thanks, babe. I'm glad ya like it." He added, just to emphasize how serious he was about his answer, Don waiting to see Danny's reaction.
Danny glanced over at Don with a raised eyebrow. "Sounds like my Christmas gift is fer yer pleasure." he said, unsure if Don actually told Adam that or not since he usually couldn't read Don's face.
"'Course I like it. It's good." he repeated, "Really good. Did ya think I wouldn't?"
