Answer the
Random Dozen Meme questions... if you haven't already. ;)
They're from October 2010.
1. From "Men Are Dumb ....": If you had a theme song that played whenever you walked into a room full of people, what would it be?
I dunno. Old me had a lot of songs that described how I felt. Most of them were along the lines of "Creep" by Radiohead. ;)
Current me doesn't really have any, but I do like
"Do Not" by John Reuben and "Forgiven" by Relient K.
2. From Pam of "Alert And Oriented x 4": Which of your shoes are your absolute favorite, and which are of the object of your most painful shoe-buyer's remorse?
I actually really love these brown church shoes (Clark's) I got from Dillard's. I continue to be sad about these brown sandals I bought awhile back in the cheap people's store that never fit. Alas, my feet are fairly special and skinny.
I found these awesome Clark's sandals once at the cheapie store that actually fit.. but alas, haven't figured out how to clean them so they're all grody. The insides are some funky material that doesn't cope well with water.
3. From Susanne of "Living to Tell the Story": Tell about your favorite birthday celebration that you've personally experienced.
None. Ok... actually my mom mailed me a card once, and I really liked the note she wrote in it. I normally hate birthdays because (1) I hate being the center of attention, (2) I hate obligations (i.e., if you buy me something, I have to buy you something back and vice versa), and (3) I hate being reminded of just how weird I am. There's nothing like experiencing rejection on your birthday... inviting a bunch of people somewhere and having them decline because they're too busy, etc.
Yeah. Not a good thing to celebrate.
4. From Lori of "Just me and My Life": If you were a flavor of ice cream, which would you be?
Probably something nauseatingly plan and healthy... like wheat bran. LOL.
5. Cindy Swanson of "Notes in the Key of Life" asks: Have you ever had a crush on a movie star? Who was it, and are you still crushing?
Used to love quite a few. Jason Momoa from Stargate Atlantis was the most recent (circa '07 or something). Everybody remembers "Zach" from Saved by the Bell. That kind of stuff. I think I crushed more on guys from books, tho.
6. Jill from "Jill Boyd's Place" inquires: Glasses or braces--if you had to wear one, which would it be?
Ugh. Neither! Unfortunately I had both.. at the same time. 5th through 10th grade was rough.
7. Nel from "Fasteneau Facts" asks: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Here's pretty good. It's not so much about the place as it is family, life, work, etc.
8. Thena from "Patiently Waiting" wants to know: If money were no obstacle, what would be the perfect birthday gift to receive?
I dunno. I don't really want anything. Maybe my parents' debts all being paid? That would be awesome.
9. From "Life Through Bifocals," LynnMarie asks: What is your favorite birthday meal?
Umm... whatever I want? Right now I could use some wings. Haven't had them in awhile.
10. Debby at "Just Breathe" checks in with: Do you still send hand-written thank you notes?
When I have to, yes. Sadly, etiquette demands it on certain occasions.
11. Linda from "Mocha with Linda" poses this question: What is something you've done that you never thought you'd do?
Live? I was seriously "done" with all my goals 6 years ago. Also, my job is a constant challenge in the sense that everything I do seems to be something I've never done before. Good for growth, bad for nerves. Never thought I'd be arguing with a 53 yo man about the right path forward on our project.
Mostly, tho, I'm pretty staid and predictable.
12. Jewel, my homegirl from Indiana who writes at "Musings from the World of Jewel," is very insistent that we answer this: Mount Rushmore honors four US Presidents: Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Roosevelt. If you could add any person to Mount Rushmore, who would you add and why? Well... it wouldn't be Martin Luther King, Jr. I'm tempted to say Obama, who's a big first despite his awful reputation. Other than that, I'm sure there are any number of significant and influential dead folks who could grace the monument. Lots of people have made great contributions to the country. I'm not a history buff, tho, so I couldn't debate the specifics.
