at practice entry

So I'm at practice and I'm watching them do runthroughs and whatnot. I wont' be doing the PCN performance this year just cuz it has been a hectic week with work and whatnot.

School is back in for me... or should I say, I'm back in school... taking classes and whatnot. Can't take that break anymore because I can't give back my loans anymore... or the ones that I used. So yeah... Now i just have to worry about catching up and acing everything on the syllabus.

Something I want to think about out loud or in this entry:
Being a Dance Coordinator (DC)
There is not that much responsibility with this job however, the responsibilities entitled to his position are very big. For one, choreography shouldn't be an issue. Meaning: You should be able to come up with choreography and dynamics of the set as well as a theme or whatnot. You should be able to come up with it and be able to do it and train your dancers to be able to do it.

Another big responsibility is music choice: knowing what music you need, want, have, and whatnot. Especially for a theme, if you'll be using one, make sure you make it solid and coherent. Also with themes and music, you need to make sure your choreo fits it or compliments it I should say so that the music is properly interpreted.

I think that the biggest responsibility for being a DC is being there for the team, caring about the performance, making sure that everyone knows their shxt. It slowly isn't about the choreography anymore. It's about making sure that everyone can present your vision and successful perform it. And that entails everything mentioned previously: making the choreo and teaching it and training the dancers; putting together a coherent medley for the set, theme or no theme...

So that was just thinking... what do you guys think?
