While Kristoph was accustomed to spending long hours at work, he was becoming increasingly aware of how exactly much time he spent in his offices; he found himself going there more and more often, as he found more cases and consultations to become immersed in during work hours and Klavier became increasingly moody and difficult to deal with during downtime. Not to mention that the sheer volume that Klavier managed to produce, especially now that he was convinced that 'band' of his was going somewhere, made the generally silent rooms and corridors of Gavin Law Offices increasingly welcome, even after business hours had ended. For the most part, the time was given to research or paperwork, though once in a while, he would take part in other activities that he had begun to find impossible within the apartment.

Activities such as his own musical endeavors, for example.

Kristoph had always held a certain fascination with the sound of stringed instruments; he been enrolled in private violin lessons at a young age, and though that instrument had been followed up with piano lessons shortly after, it was the violin that had stayed with him. Now, of course, the desire he had once had to play for an audience was gone, replaced long ago with thoughts of courtrooms and verdicts; at the same time, once in a while he would remove the violin from its case and play one of the pieces he could remember more or less by rote. Recently, he had taken to doing this in the office - usually after closing hours, when the chance that he would be walked in on was essentially nil.

I suppose that if I must thank Klavier for anything, he thought as he primed the taut violin bow with rosin before drawing it against the open strings of the instrument to test the sound, he's somehow made playing once in a while seem like a decent idea.

He pulled the bow away a moment later and lowered the instrument; while he was producing some tone, it wasn't nearly enough, and there was a strange, slipping feeling when he drew the bow across the strings. He glanced at the clock, checking the time before he continued; though office hours were technically over, he imagined the doors could remain unlocked for a short while longer. It wasn't as though any clients would be stopping in this late, and if they were, it was presumably for a world-ending emergency; either way, there was no harm in leaving things as they were for now.

After a fairly short while spent testing the sound and applying more rosin, he managed to produce a clear, ringing tone with the bow, and tuning against the small box on his desk sounding out a constant 'A' had never been particularly difficult for him; at the same time, though the weather hadn't been bad lately, there had been a good amount of moisture in the air - he wasn't sure how long the tuning was going to stick before he would have to adjust it again.

For now, however, he was fine with the tone he was producing on the open strings; it didn't take him very long to warm up on the instrument, sliding easily back into the familiar, focused state of mind that, while not exclusive to the time spent with the violin, was far more enhanced while he was producing tone with it. He remained standing behind his desk as he played, and after a few initial falters, the notes began to come easily; he closed his eyes a few moments later, slipping into a piece he could still remember despite the time that had passed since he had really studied it.
