***ANNOUNCEMENT***
I'm currently working on what I hope will turnout to be a pretty big project if all goes well, but I need your input.
You'll find lists of "Best Designed Blogs" all over the internet, but of course those never include LJs, so for the last couple weeks I've been looking for any kind of group or list of LiveJournal bloggers who have well-designed and unique layouts. Unfortunately, those groups and lists are pretty much nonexistant. There are layout rating communities, but it's always a daunting task to look through all those entries when you're just searching for a bit of LJ eyecandy.
Thanks to communities like the_lj_reboot, people have been getting more and more interested in what they can do with CSS and s2overrides to make their journals look less like templates and more like blogs on external websites. I've been playing around with my own over the last several months and am finally happy with the direction it's going. Anyway, all the new interest in coding has resulted in some amazing new designers, but no one necessarily knows who they are.
I've decided to put together a regularly updated list/gallery of really phenomenal LJ layouts to be used as both a place of recognition for those who go out of their way to make LJ a prettier place and to be used as a resource for newbies and LJ-scoffers to see just how original a livejournal can be.
If you know of anyone who should be on this list of beautifully designed LJ layouts, please comment to this entry. I will, of course, ask their permission before just adding them to the gallery if I decide to include them, but it's really hard to just randomly discover great LJ layout designers without a little help from some friends. :)
