Hai junoon sa jeene mein- NEWYORK Review

Jun 29, 2009 01:26

ok i just got back home after watching this Brilliant film .Am sure by now many of you know what new york is about ?, but for those who still don't know  let me tell you.  Newyork is story of  3 muslim friends  sam, maya and omar ( john ,kat and neil) living in Newyork enjoying their lives, youth and friendship to the core and  then one day their lives changed  forever and  took  a complete  u turn because of the 9/11  attacks.
i liked the subject and also how it's handled in a superb manner. take a bow kabir for handling such sensitive matter with so much ease and brilliance. The movie adresses many issues like  how a terrorist is born?  why are  innocent people treated like animals ? why just of because your race /religion you r treated in an unhuman way? This movie makes you question a lot! It is not saying that terrorism is not bad, but is saying that everyone has a hand in it, everyone is responsible, cause everyone has hatred, and likes to blame one another for mishaps, and have so much hatred that can harm another person so much, that things can get really awful and difficult! This is what I feel the movie is essentially about! They take a real life incident to convey the message, how humans  are being treated, how normal people go through such horrific conditions, and how people can harm people in such a big way, and how your pain and hatred, cause someone else's pain and hatred, how one terrorist who killed so many people in the 9/11 has made so many others a terrorist! This is what the movie is all about!

Music:

i didn't like any song apart from hai junoon before watching the movie but they r so well placed in the movie that now am loving all the 3 songs used in the film my fav has to be hai junoon and mere sang too chal zara( very well picturized u can feel the way  both john kat r feeling it's sweet yet very painful seeing her trying to bring the old sam back and trying to make him feel normal again touched my heart).

hai junoon is also very good i liked how the development of the trio's friendship is shown in it  really fun to watch ( many cute moments  must say the chemistry is really sizzling between the trio still i like the promotional video much more than in movie )

Tun ne jo na kaha is also good u can easily feel what omar( neil is going through in it)

performances:

this is really hard for me as the trio totally rocked i really can't decide who's better between the 2 guys  caz they both were just extreamly good more on that later. kat amazed me.In short i'll say it's the TRIOS career best performances and about irfan do i have to say something?cause everyone knows he can never give a bad performance  and was gr8  as always.

Neil is Brilliant as omar i would say his performance was what made the film shine as his character was torn between moral/truth and his loyalty towards  his friends. He yet again showed that  he has the potential if given in the right hands i have no doubts in saying he's gonna be on top in coming years if he kept improving like this and made right choices like NY and JG and no more ADZ lmao

scenes to watch of him* SPOILERS*

the mall scene where he meets maya after 7 years
the scene where he blames irfan and FBI for whatever happened to sam and also the scene in the begininng where he takes a stand and decides to help FBI but only to prove his friends r innocent
the  scene where he had to murder a person in order to gain sam's confidence and faith over him
the confrontation with kat

John OMG!!! can i just say it's his BEST performance till now . i liked Dhoom so much and the reason is solely john as kabir in that film and now in this one he just blown over me and  proved that he's more than just a showpiece( as it's always said that he 's only in films caz of his looks) boy o boy i can't even express in words how much his performance touched my heart and made me cry the torchure scenes r really really good and painful. john is so good that u feel it's happening to u or to someone whom u loved so dearly. his pain rips u apart and makes u feel for those innocent people who actually went through all this. Am so glad that john chose this film and showed his potential. This no doubt is going to be the turning point in his career go johny baby( not to mention he looked super hot)

scenes to watch of john * spoilers*
The  climax scene where he is surrounded by the FBI on the terrace of their headquarters and asked to surrender is super. His face portrays a range of emotions which say, I'd rather die than go through that torture again.'' In one fleeting moment, Kabir transfers Samir's emotions on to you. it's the moment u just can't hold ur tears.

the torchure scenes( god he was too good)

the naughty sam in the race at the begining

Katrina : no doubt with this film she shows that she's more then just a barbie doll. Finally someone gave her a substance role and she makes sure she's not gonna disappoint anyone. Also, the fact the she didn't dubbed this time makes her performance much more special. i hope she now starts choosing roles like this where she gets a chance to do something rather than stand in frame and look beautiful her  growth as an actor is termendous. loved her look and her honest performance it was so easy to relate with her character.

Scenes to watch* spoilers*
the climax scene( i don't agree with it though why was she being killed ?what was her fault in it? just that she was his wife or that she loved him too much ?  it  doesn't justifes her death well  i think even sam doesn't deserved it as he didn't committed any crime he didn't blasted the bomb either so he was  still innocent too)
the confrontation with neil
the pre climax   scenes

Overall

I'll rate is a 4.5/ 5  for the fact that i don't fully agree with the ending as u can read in spoiler section and i  Highly recommended it

suggestion buy a box of tissue paper before goign to this movie caz you r definatly going to cry.
