Lightning is bad for things, mm-kay?
So last week, a nearby lightning strike totally burninated my network in the apartment. My router, Airport Base Station, and the network cards in our computers were all toast. Oddly, the cable modem was fine. By "fine" I mean it still retardedly disconnects every hour or so on its own. Fine. I needed a catalyst.
I ordered a new wireless router (the hackable WRT54G), new network cards, and a new cable modem. I'm tired of leasing crap modems from Time Warner. I also purchased two 800 VA UPSs to protect both computers and the network. Jane and I will have about 15 minutes of World of Warcraft playtime in the event of a complete power outage.
Just got the notification that FedEx delivered the package at the apartment office. Time to hop on the bus to go home and set everything back up.
