To the bored geeks and coders out there

To the bored geeks and coders out there, I've just discovered through Brent Ozar - a SQL MVP of a very interesting project.

Last month a bunch of Microsoft MVPs were quitely given a lot of MSDN Ultimate subscriptions, as well as a bunch of other stuff work US$15k for each pack, to give away to the community in any way they see fit. One guy - Arnie Rowland thought of a better way. He's started a 'competition' of sorts that he's called Project Phoenix. The competition is a simple one. Write an application for a non-profit community group that will help them.

He's now been joined by other MVPs and is now giving away one a week until the end of the year.

So it's a great chance to do something usefull in your spare time, as well as help a group that needs it, and possibly even get some cool swag.

Spread the word.
