Now to bidness

So as a general update, I live in Dallas now and work downtown. It pays the bills...so far, and is generally holds my interest at least 7 hours a day. I'm normally there for more than eight, but that's still pretty good as work goes I think. Tori and I are still together and the cats are in mostly good health.

In more specific news, this wekend Tori is out of town for a wedding. I stayed in town for the company picnic and to hopefully drive to Austin to pick up a TV. The TV business didn't work out because I dropped the ball on transport. Hopefully next weekend. Instead I have a lot of sitting and thinking time, probably more than is really best. It's probably time for a little posting.
The picnic was fun. Actually the picnic itself was so-so at best, but the food was from Babe's (super badass fried chicken) and the company rented wave-runners. That was what I was looking forward to and my expectations were met and exceeded. I don't think I could enjoy one everyday, but I should definitely get my hands on one of those things more often. There's something about doing 45+ with nothing holding you in except your own body. We were supposed to avoid "sharp turns," but what is sharp really? When I was much younger I got to drive one with my Aunt riding with me. I wanted to skid out or whatever you'd call the water equivalent. I don't remember if I stayed on, but she went flying and her glasses were lost to the depths. This time I twisted both knees quite painfully but they don't still hurt so I doubt I did any lasting damage. You forget just how fast you're going until you throw yourself into a high-G maneuver. My knees don't hurt anymore, but every major muscle group does and I managed to rub the skin off the backs of both thumbs where I was gripping the handlebars. It was totally worth it.
This morning I didn't have to come up with a plan for a day I hadn't been expecting to spend all by myself because Scott and Tif called and woke me up (at like 11) to tell me they were headed to the Dr. Pepper museum. I jumped up and gave them an address and then took a long shower before looking up directions and discovering that it was an hour and forty-five minutes away rather than the forty five to an hour I was expecting. Fortunately Scott and Tif rule and so they wandered a deserted downtown Waco for an hour to wait for me. I had a good time. We had some Ninfas and took off on our seperate ways. I bought some real sugar Dr. Pepper to bring home because the fountain soda was so good. I'm trying to be good with money or I'd have bought a case and/or a bottle of syrup.
Now that I'm home I gave the cats a bath because they had fleas and the collars are just not working fast enough. So here I sit, damp and scratched wishing this weren't such apainfully boring post. Since it is, it's over.
