seeking all house-seekers :)

The lovey Miss Em is leaving us for a less grueling commute to work and back each day. Of course this means that K n I will be looking for a housemate once again.

Room available by mid-April

The house:

* Huge old three bedroom, two living area and study Victorian brick. Run down but run down with character!
* In about as central Footscray as you can get, 5 min walk from the station (just on the other side of the main drag). 10 min walk to Coles, 10 min walk (if that) to Footscray market, 15 min walk to Little Siagon market.
* Footscray btw, is at most a 20 minute train ride to the city and has two train lines running trough it.
* Seddon and Yarraville are either a 20-40 minute walk, or one or two train stops away (and very chic little burbs)
* Pretty much furnished these days. There is some space for extra bookshelves out and about, but that's about it.
* Your room on the other hand is quite large enough for double-bed, couch, shelves and a telly/computer desk
* Extra study room I need in winter to actually study in, as the front room gets too cold. However, my study days are pretty set, and if you were studying and wanted to use the room on my off days, that fine :)

The people:

* One guy, one gal, v. late 20s and early 30s.
* He's a gamer, she's a hippy.
* Both employed full time, she studies part-time on top of that.
* both relaxed.
* Both a mix of quiet and sociable.
* Both smokers,outside only. She's (me) battling with kicking off those last 1-2 per day.
* Both meat eaters.
* Two cats and a backyard stray who'll wander in for a look-see every now and then, but is still very people shy.

The fine-print:

* Rent is $405 per month.
* Bills split. Net's $50 per month for the whole house, and is unlimited and fast!
* Prof cleaner once a fortnight for the big stuff (once again, we split the bill), which just leaves being somewhat tidy and fair about the dishes
* Semi-communal. I don't believe in kitties or rosters, honestly at our age, we know what's fair and what's not. Milk and bread are generally up for grabs if they're around (there's a sev literally just across the road), everything else is 'ask before taking'.
* The aim is for everyone to cook a meal for the house once a week, sometimes it slides a lil, sometimes I go on cooking sprees and cook large meals three nights in a row, but that's the general aim. It's nice to share. It's even nicer to come home after a 12 hour work/study day and find that someone else has cooked a meal.
* Once again, cooking isn't rostered. We have a wall calendar in the kitchen, if there's a night that suits that week, write your name up, preferably a few days in advance so we know what (read: when) to expect.
* Dishes are written on the calendar too. Not a roster, just write it up when you do them (or most of them, or a few of them), it makes it really easy to see who's doing what around the place with-out a 'you must do this now'.
* Dishes often slide for a day or two, but we're pretty ok other than that.

You:

* Late 20s - mid 30s.
* Employed.
* Has share housing experience and is adult about what that means.
* Likes a bit of a cuppa tea natter coming home at the end of the day, and joining in the occasional tv marathon on the couch/cafe sunday brekkie etc
* Is pretty self sufficient other than that
* Meat eater with no major food hang-ups. I'd like for this to be negotiable but quite frankly, it will make cooking easier if everyone's on the same page.
* Likes pets but doesn't have any outside cages - fish, birds, mice, reptiles all ok, so long as you don't blame us if the cats get excited. Once again, I'd like to be able to negotiate on this, but experience with Em's kitty has taught us that ours are too settled in their ways to take kindly to others.
* Gamer-goth-hippy all score bonus points
