i've been spending a good part of my holiday reading, together with my intellectual book club (consisting of bry and izza, except bryant has yet to start reading. well that's another story for another day) and on jeslyn's suggestion decided to pick up chuck palahniuk's invisible monsters. on a whim i decided to buy the book and spend a day out reading (also because i wanted to try on my new clothes hahaha)
“The one you love and the one who loves you are never, ever the same person.”
this book was my first ever read of any of palahniuk's works. although i've heard of fight club (i mean really now, who hasn't?) i haven't gotten round to reading any of his works and wow thank god i started off with this book because this is possibly the most messed up piece of literature i’ve ever read. such a brilliantly executed train wreck from beginning to end....can't stop raving about it. there were a lot of gaps in the story but as the chapters go on your mind fills them up, that is, if you can remember. the way palahniuk grapples with heavy topics like beauty with such ease, and such humor amazes me because he has this uncanny ability to make me laugh and yet make me feel so much with the same exact phrases.
sorry mom.
sorry God.
this book is truly mindfuck at it's best.
excuse me while i read it for a second time........
