Slashed.

On Monday I sliced my fingers open on the edge of a laptop keyboard. I know, it doesn't seem like it's all that likely, but as computers get smaller and thinner so do their components. I was prying this extremely thin sheet metal component from the case when it popped free and gashed my right index finger so deeply I needed 8 stitches to put it back together, and grazed my ring finger open to the knucklebone.

Funny how much we rely on our hands. If I split these stitches, Worker's Comp won't let me return to work, so I have to be extra careful. My normal exercises are out of the question, so sleeping has been difficult as my back starts to complain at the lack of support it's enjoyed. I can't use a pen, can't sign credit card slips, and using eating utensils is awkward. Typing is cumbersome so I haven't been able to write like I want. Even reading places some pretty serious fatigue on the fingers I can still use as they make up for the ones that I can't.

Funny how life likes to throw curveballs. When I'm finally enjoying my life outside video games, it serves up a helping of not being able to do anything with my time but play video games (mouse clicking requires very little digital motion, go figure).

I get to have the stitches removed on Thursday, hopefully some of these restrictions will go away.

In other news, I now own www.ironjacks.net and have plans to make it into something special.
