I found this in a magazine and ripped out the page. It's a good message and I thought I'd share it with anyone who reads this.

"Isn't every girl broken? We are born, pure, whole, and then something happens, someone breaks our hearts, our parents don't love us in the right way, our minds are against us, society is against us as we try relentlessly to fit someone's idea of what a normal happy woman should be. And then we are chipped, cracked, crushed. Broken. We are all broken girls, every last one of us. With every comment, every remark, every unreturned phone call, every tear, every cut we are broken.

And what do we do? What can we do? We cry, we cut ourselves, we drink, we write poetry, we try to find someone to connect with, or we do whatever it is we need to cope. But we get back up again. And that's the most beautiful thing about being a brokengirl. We get back up. Is the most beautiful thing in life not rising after every time we fall? If we had not been dragged down by other or by ourselves, we would not appreciate the good things as readily. Simple things, having the one good day, even though for the last month you've been dissolving in tears. Savoring the friendships, the bonds you can make with someone who understands you.

Being broken allows you to understand the beauty of the simple, the minute, the mundane. Of feeling like you just can't do this anymore, and then to be brave, and to go on living.

I'd rather be broken."
