Did a bunch of things last week - very productive ok Bee!
Let's see...
Met up with Fanny on Friday - this was a rather impromptu thing since he happened to be in the area and I needed to settle dinner outside. I wanted to go to Timbre along the river for pizza and beer, but my rather (only rather) bad sense of direction and The Hunger sort of landed us at Indochine instead. Ambience was rather nice (if a bit strange lah, I expected something more family-oriented and ended up with er candlelight) and they did have live music there too.. all very mellow and chill. Talk went on to lots of Uncle-ly like topics though. Or was it Auntie-like? haha... still the same ah this Fanny.
Sat was rather busy, had to pop by church for a while in the day, went home to bring my folks to get er paint.. for our house. Eh nowadays the paint very cool can? They just take a tub of white paint, go to a machine and key in the number code of the paint.. then the machine starts squeezing out different mixes of colours into the white! Then it is placed in another machine where it gets mixed. Very cool.... that's how far technology has gone, huh.. everything in an instant. Then it was out again to K with the small group peeps.. that was fun, as always. er for the most part. I went off to the handicapped loo outside the place.. and opened the door to a guy peeing. erk. See Bak Jiam.. his friends outside were laughing their heads off - evil.
On Sunday after church, I went back to start painting proper. Well my dad did most of the roller bits, while he made me do the straight lines and corners. Bleah .. i wanna do the roller bits too.. just roll only without having to worry about shaky hands and stuff. :( it did pay off though. My wall's now a very nice shade of lime green (from its earlier dull bluish-purple). :D Will need a couple more weekends to do up the rest though. We're thinking blue to go with the green, so it would be more "cooling", visually. will post up pictures as and when I er.. feel like it. haha
And... after that it was off back to church for the Messiah concert. It was my very first, although I understand that our church choir had been participating in the production the past few years. At the pre-concert talk I learned that Handel took offense when someone thanked him for "a wonderful evening of entertainment".. caz he expected this to really contribute to a change in the person's life instead. Well.. sadly I didn't really experience this change either lor.. while I enjoyed the performance, I feel I still much prefer the normal orchestras. some interesting stuff though..
1. Animated guy - this guy in the choir who was super the animated when he sang. He's like the only majorly bopping head in the whole entire choir, which made him very easy to spot.
2. When I heard the tenor sing.. I thought.. Phantom. But er he may need to lose a few more pounds to act in it.. :p
3. The church was very cold can?! Had to borrow winterwear from Soh hoon from the office .. the rest of the folks were in similar states of cold.
4. The 2 trumpet guys and the timpani gal.. didn't get much airtime at all.. they sat through many songs, and the gal didn't even get to touch the timpani in part 1... their parts were very obvious, though, once they did play. Macam.. er.. fireflies? haha
5. I think trumpets collect saliva.. .. :S
6. Pronunciation of ye olde english? Or just the way these words are sung... teehee
"the lump of God.."
"All we like shit"
"Undergarments .. over the shoulders"
7. Shengen--too cute! She was like furtively conducting the choir from her place.. at first her hand actions were rather small.. but towards the end.. as the chorus reached a peak... I think she also boey tahan already, and conducted more vigorously towards the end. Cute!
8. Vincent actually went, gasp!
(wrote this on ommwriter, thanks to Auntie. it has been described as yoga for writing..well..not quite. But it does help with focus, strangely. Nice. )
