rubykate. Hope this is better than the usual fluff one can find written of this pairing. The first bit of dialogue is taken straight from the game script.
"Stay with me until the end. Please." She says it with gleaming eyes and it's either love or happy tears that glistens them. He's happy with either option.
But what is the end, Tidus can't help himself wondering. The day she dies, the day he does? After they've defeated Sin? He feels a knot in his chest tighten at the thought. That would be the end, wouldn't it. Her end. Don't think about it, he tells himself. Just don't.
"Not until the end," he says, naively thinking about the day he'll show her Zanarkand, the city that never sleeps. For real. "Always."
She nods and he wants to press his lips against hers again, dance with her under the water again.
"Always, then."

Tidus can't deny that they both know what will eventually be their end. They do and it's in her touch, when her hand slides into his hair the next night. She's careful as is he, careful not to break anything, careful not to say anything about how they both know; they'd rather not give it any thought, for now. They're both hesitant and eager, his hands holding onto her hips as she moves on top of him. He gasps and shifts, moving her off of him, escaping her warm mouth. This is too good, Tidus thinks. His breathing is heavy and he clears his throat and tries not to look at her. It would only make him not want to stop.
"Yuna."
She opens her eyes, her lips still wetpink and parted. She looks at him, a shadow of lazy sexiness in her look and he feels uncomfortably hot. He shifts again, edging away from her.
"You have to get your rest," he says with a concerned, careful tone. "And I don't want to be the reason you don't."
She smiles and looks at him under her eyelashes. He curses in the only Al Bhed curse word he's ever heard Cid use, vilg, silently and avoids her eyes.
"I don't want to sleep," she says ruefully while she closes the gap between them. "I want to be with you," she whispers as her little, wet lips press against his throat.
He doesn't push her away this time, just holds her there and thinks of how sleeping makes him think about the end, any of the possible ends they could face. Then her hand slips lower and he moans, oh and wonders if she's done this before.
He has, but there's never been a heavy dark shade underneath the passion like this before. It makes everything all the more special and he's still painfully careful with his moves and his touches, but she doesn't seem to mind. Against the black velvet sky she looks like a flower, he thinks fleetingly.
After his breathing has become calm again, she falls asleep against his chest. He tries to sleep as well, but can't, his mind on things he shouldn't be thinking about. Maybe there won't be an end. Maybe they can be together for a small eternity and he will treat her better than his father treated his mother. She'll sleep every night like this, wrapped around him. They'll be happy.
Optimism is just one form of ignorance, someone could tell him and he'd refuse to listen.
