Was trying to recover from the mindfuckiness of Ashes to Ashes S3 beginning episode (which was brills & fun but also really plotty and twisty and intriguing), so I figured I'd check out this new Dr Who episode.
I actually hadn't even heard that much about it (in as much as like, how much it takes after the previous series) and whether I'd "get it" but I figured, I love me the Moff (or Steven Moffat, or Moffe as I call him, as we're bff on an astral plane) and if it sucks, well, I can just not ever talk about it and save myself the wrath of Who fans I know.
Well, luckily I really liked it. :D
It was just light and fun and pretty much all-around yay. Of course, I have nothing to compare it to in terms of the show itself (as I've seen so little, never even a full episode) but if I compare it to Things I Have Ever Watched or Things I've Watched That Moffe Made, I did really enjoy it a lot. The whole backstory for Amy and everything was just too sweet (the kid actor was so good and adorbs).
And it was pretty bantery which is pretty Moffe. And pretty people who I also inexplicably associate with Moffe, possibly just because of Coupling. People need to stop ragging on Matt Smith for his lack of eyebrows, though. I have even less prominent eyebrows than his. God doesn't gift all of us with great eyebrows, you haters. :|
And for whatever reason Amy's super-tiny skirt made me also just think, "lol Moffe". That was before I found it was causing some sort of semi-big public outrage in Britain. Seriously? I mean I get that it's a kids' show but seriously. The Doctor was more objectified in that episode than Amy.
Anyway, I'm not really sure if I'm so into this thing I'm going to rewatch the previous series and old school stuff and all of that. But I will keep watching this new series - nice balance to the darker drama that A2A is heading towards.
Oh and latest episode of Castle was fun, as well, yay. Now I must be off for a night out.
