Here's something you should check out, if only because it's available for free online legally and that's always fantastic, no?
Dorm Life is a web mockumentary series about the residents of 5 South, a dormitory floor. It's mostly comedy with a little bit of romance thrown in, and it's just great and funny and fun to watch. The episode lengths range from 5 minutes to 10 minutes, so it's good for those who are like me and have the attention span of a fish. If you absolutely want to compare it to some existing thing, call it The Office of college life (even though mockumentaries existed way before The Office).
The characters start out as these stereotype college students and the beginning of the series is a little awkward, but the characters grow into something more than stereotypes. It just gets better and better as it goes along. The first semester is 20 episodes and the second one just started - new episodes on Mondays!
All of it is on youtube and
this is the playlist for semester one. Since the episodes are short, please give it a few episodes even if you're not in love with the first episode. As I said, it takes a while.
You can also watch on MySpace. And when you're done watching all the eps, you can watch
bonus clips.
Here's ep 1:

Life's a party.
The pretty girls! Britney and Courtney have been bff's forever and then some.
Residents of the triple room: Danny B (alias Daniel Benjamin), Gopher & Shane. The latter two party loud and hard, which poor Danny B disapproves of, but as the series progresses, they learn to get along quite happily.
Mike (in blue), the most regular guy on the floor, and his most unregular roommate Josh (in red), who's into art and theater and manages to be simultanously the weirdest and the most observant person on the floor. Even odder, Mike seems to accept Josh's quirky nature and even thinks highly of his artistic hobbies.
Abbie, reserved, quiet and studious girl who shies away from the attention of the camera whenever directed at her. Roommates with..
..Steph, the loudest girl on the floor, who loves organizing FUN THINGS and taking pictures and her hamster and her soft toys.
Then there's Marshall (Adams the First), the floor's strict, egomaniacal R.A. (as can probably be witnessed in this picture - check out rules #4 and #6 dictate). He's not a fan of anybody but himself, but he's especially not a fan of Mike. Simply put, he's a real asshole, which means he's also one of the funniest characters.
..and totally OTP with Steph. Roffle.
The "will they won't they" couple of the show, Brit & Mike, are also cute.
And Gopher and Shane are just Gopher and Shane.
It's tough to post video clips because I don't think they'd really be funny to anybody who didn't know the characters but I quite enjoy this one, with Danny B (it's one of the webcam-filmed bonus clips):
