this movie is the reason i kept my bale icon through various icon trims: the dark knight

So, The Dark Knight was pretty much everything I was expecting/hoping it would be.

That is, a damn well-crafted movie that is better than Batman Begins (haha, I just typo'ed "Barman Begins" - reboot of Tom Cruise's Cocktail, anybody?) and bleak and dark as fuck. And at the same, as overwhelming and powerful and incredible as it was as a movie ( Read more... )

Do I ever tell you often enough how much I love you? You really nailed a lot of my feelings on this one.

And at the same, as overwhelming and powerful and incredible as it was as a movie experience, I would not want to rewatch it, probably ever. Maybe in 2018. Maybe.

Thank you! I walked into the movie super-excited and walked out scared to death. I really think it was a brilliant, amazing film but my god... it was so disturbing, so intensely terrifying that if I ever get to the point where I can watch it comfortably, I think I really would be jaded beyond the point of return. It was the third time for the friends that I went with, and I just don't understand how they can watch it so many times. I definitely do not want to see it again. This is probably the scariest film I have ever seen, slasher flicks have nothing on the kind of psychological terror I experienced watching TDK.

3. Yes! While I appreciated MG's twist on the character (Rachel was certainly more saucy and playful this time around) as opposed to trying to recreate Katie's, I just wasn't as satisfied... Every time she came on screen I just wished she were Katie, haha, which is my one major qualm with this film along with...

12. For reals! There was a serious lack of bare Bale body. :( I did squee a lot, though, to see him all badass and fighting baddies in Armani, yum.

No problem, glad we are in agreement. :D

I also don't understand repeat watchers of this movie. Maybe if you're a comic geek big on the Batman, you can sort of detach yourself from the story and the psychology of it all and through that, enjoy it without being like "oh shit oh shit oh shit what's gonna happen" but yeah.
